The ancient dialogue concerning arts and science

The ancient dialogue concerning arts and science is currently ongoing between KASK-HoGent and the Center for Microbial Ecology and Technology (CMET).

Intermingling projects such as the development of novel technologies mimicking the gut epithelial architecture and the color biolab, this cooperative teamwork has been pushing the boundaries between art and science to obtain inspiring photographs and new lab-tools.  As an example, originally designed 3D-printed bacterial cradles are improving our in vitro models to evaluate host-microbiome interactions. Moreover, the potential use of color generated by pigment-producing bacteria or the use of cell cultures as canvas and tool for creating artistic images are being explored.
