Sustainability award for Elias Bouvry: anaerobic digestion for renewable energy recovery from bio-refinery wastewater

Each year, CMET encourages master students to reflect on sustainability in the framework master thesis. An award is given to the student with the most in-depth and relevant proposal to improve sustainability in the lab. This year, Elias Bouvry obtained the sustainability award for his master thesis in which he focused on anaerobic digestion for renewable energy recovery from bio-refinery wastewater. Elias focused on the key aspect of uncontrolled methane release during anaerobic digestion experiments, which he framed in a relevant context, and suggested several well-considered solutions with high application potential to tackle this problem.
